cuckoo

a week ago while browsing on etsy, i came across a lovely little store called ruthmarian and ended up buying (well, it was actually my sweet, sweet husband who bought it for me) an adorable vintage german-made cuckoo clock. a couple of days later and voila! my cuckoo clock arrives in the mail!

hanging on my wall.

she is with a thermometer. the man and the woman are also movable. it actually says on the back that if the weather is dry, to move the woman out, and if the weather is wet, to move the man forward. i am not exactly sure if i have to do it everyday or if it does it by itself since it's according to the weather but whatever. anyway, the bird is my favorite part.

this little guy is the cuckoo bird and he is placed below the
where the man and woman are placed. he cuckoos every 15 minutes, although i was able to adjust it so it won't cuckoo a lot.

isn't she a beauty?

I have loved this kind of clock ever since my fourth-grade English teacher lent me this really old children's book (with colour plates!) that told the story of the little man and woman that lived in 'the weather house.' It still seems magical.
